Stepline Carborundum anti-slip safety tread used in large stadium

SSE Hydro Glasgow

SSE Hydro Glasgow

The SSE Hydro Arena was designed by the London-based architects Foster and Partners and is a dramatic and distinctive construction in Glasgow’s development plans. The building is one of the largest of its kind in the world, capable of seating up to 12,500 people.

The steeply-tiered seating design included Artech Stepline Carborundum anti-slip step inserts. This was a key component to ensure the safety of visitors. And applied to both them entering and exiting the arena. The Stepline inserts were perfect for the design element of the project, and Artech Systems excelled in the supply chain by producing the quantity required and then delivering to site to suit the ongoing construction programme.

We were delighted to work for Architects, Foster and Partners and in conjunction with Quantity Surveyor Gardiner and Threshold and Main Contractor Lend Lease Construction. In total 900 metres of Artech Stepline Carborundum safety tread inserts were used in the project.
